A new mine cage has been installed at the Yubileinaya mine of the Sukha Balka ore deposit

A new mine cage manufactured by specialists from the Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ) has been installed at the Yubileinaya mine of the Sukha Balka ore deposit. This was reported by the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

Repair work lasted from August 4 to August 31, with a significant amount of time devoted to preparation. The surfaces of the cage were carefully treated with a protective coating and painted to extend its service life in aggressive underground conditions. Only after this stage did the miners begin the actual replacement of the equipment.

The dismantling and removal of the old cage and the installation and assembly of the new one took 149 working hours, said Maxim Kopeyka, chief mechanic of the Yubileinaya mine. Miners in section No. 33 worked without days off.

“We installed the base of the cage in the mine shaft at the zero mark, and then installed the second and third floors in turn, connecting the frame. After that, we attached the other trailer equipment,” Kopeyka explained.

After the cage was installed, electricians connected the electrical equipment, and specialists from the energy laboratory checked its quality and gave permission for use.

It should be noted that last year, the specialized metallurgical equipment repair shop at DMZ manufactured lifting equipment for the Yubileinaya mine. The mine cage has three floors, weighs 15 tons, and can carry 126 miners at a time.

In August 2025, during the rolling campaign in rolling shop No. 2 (PS-2) of DMZ, 7.9 thousand tons of steel products were produced. The campaign was completed two days ahead of schedule: work continued from August 9 to 19 with three teams working without days off. The shop rolled a standard range of channels from No. 10 to No. 30, and also fulfilled the first order of the year for mine supports – 2.2 thousand tons of SVP-27 and 200 tons of SVP-22.
