Пункт пропуска
The Nyzhankovychi – Malkhovychi automobile checkpoint will be opened on the border with Poland in the next six months. This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi.
Kozytskyi, together with the newly appointed head of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship of Poland, Teresa Kubas-Gul, inspected the progress of work at the future checkpoint, the construction capsule of which was laid in September 2021. The facility is currently at the final stage.
According to Kubas-Gul, the next stage of the project could be the creation of a pedestrian checkpoint.
In addition, the Lviv Regional State Administration has already sent a proposal to the Ministry of Regional Development to supplement the Agreement on the establishment of the Nyzhankovychi – Malkhovychi international road border crossing point with a railway connection. The Podkarpackie Voivodeship sent a similar appeal to the Polish Ministry.
It has also been proposed to carry out control procedures at the Nyzhankovychi – Malkhovychi railway crossing point jointly with the Polish regulatory authorities on the principle of the Smilnytsia crossing point.
Kozytskyi added that the tracks on the Sambir-Khyriv and State Border-Staryava-Khyriv-Nyzhankovychi-State Border sections have been fully re-equipped for international passenger and freight rail transportation.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in January 2024, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk the creation of four new border crossing points between the two countries in addition to the existing fourteen. According to the head of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, the governments remain committed to developing border infrastructure and logistics.
