Australia is imposing anti-dumping duties on flat-rolled steel from China and South Korea

The investigation was launched following a complaint from the Australian company BlueScope Steel

The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission (ADC) has imposed provisional anti-dumping measures on certain flat-rolled products exported from China and South Korea. This was reported by Asian Metal.

The Commission has issued a positive preliminary determination regarding certain flat-rolled products, paving the way for provisional trade measures. The products in question fall under tariff codes 7208.40.00.39, 7208.51.00.40, 7208.52.00.41, 7208.90.00.30, 7225.40.00. 22 and 7225.40.00.24.

Consequently, from 24 June, the country has imposed provisional anti-dumping and countervailing duties on the relevant imports originating in China and South Korea. These will be levied in the form of security deposits.

Chinese producers will face anti-dumping duty rates ranging from 9.4% to 51.2%, and countervailing duty rates ranging from 0% to 4.5%. A single anti-dumping duty rate of 21.6% has been set for suppliers from South Korea.

According to the ADC, the investigation was launched last October following a complaint by the Australian company BlueScope Steel, and covers the period from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. The final recommendation will be communicated to the relevant ministries by 7 August at the latest.

It should be noted that in June this year, India launched an anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled flat steel products originating in or exported from China, Japan and the Russian Federation.
