Global pig iron production in November 2025 decreased by 3% compared to November 2024, to 107.6 million tons. Compared to the previous month, the figure fell by 3.6% and is at its lowest level in at least the last three years. This is evidenced by data from the World Steel Association (WorldSteel), according to Ukrmetprom.
In November, 96.3 million tons of pig iron were produced by the blast furnace method, which is 4.5% less than in November 2024 and 3.9% less than in September, and 11.3 million tons by the direct reduction method (+4.3% y/y; -0.7% m/m).
