Zaporizhstal

The total cost of repairs will amount to over UAH 92 million

Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works, in accordance with the company’s investment program, has started a major overhaul of the 3rd class of blast furnace (BF) No. 4. The total cost of the work is estimated at UAH 92 million. This was reported to GMK Center by the company’s press service.

The work started on June 19 and will last for 8 days. The overhaul will involve replacing the three-cone charging machine, repairing the foundry equipment, charge feeder and key components of the air heater, etc.

The overhaul will also include maintenance of the foundry’s aspiration system and the bunker overpass of blast furnace No. 4, which will ensure reliable operation of environmental equipment during the furnace’s operation. The furnace received the cleaning unit as part of a major reconstruction in 2014.

Experienced specialists from the blast furnace shop, Metinvest-Promservice, Zaporizhvognetryv and Etalonbudservice were involved in the work.

Zaporizhstal, as part of its environmental modernization program, systematically invests in projects to reconstruct and maintain its main production facilities. Since 2012, the Steel Works has allocated about UAH 5 billion to upgrade blast furnaces, major components and units of the blast furnace process.

Upgrading and maintaining the plant’s main production facilities and environmental protection equipment is a systematic part of the company’s operations. In particular, earlier this year, Zaporizhstal re-blown blast furnace No. 2 after a major overhaul. The plant allocated over UAH 85 million to upgrade the blast furnace.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2022-2023, Zaporizhstal allocated over UAH 1.2 billion to upgrade production equipment and treatment facilities at the complex. During the full-scale invasion, the program focused on maintaining and upgrading equipment to ensure its reliable operation in unpredictable wartime conditions.
