«The specialists of Zaporizhstal’s blast furnace shop and engineering department, together with Metinvest-Promservice and Zaporizhvognetryv specialists, have fully completed the planned work to upgrade the second blast furnace. The overhaul was preceded by a thorough preparatory stage, which made it possible to reduce the repair time by a day,» said Roman Slobodianiuk, CEO of Zaporizhstal.

In total, about 200 plant’s specialists and contractors worked at the site. The main works performed included replacement of the charging apparatus, repair of the foundry equipment, hydraulics and lubrication systems, repair of metal structures and rail tracks of the bunker overpass, as well as maintenance of the production unit’s aspiration systems.

The main goal of the repair of Blast Furnace No. 2 is to increase equipment reliability and sustainability of the production process at the blast furnace and improve product quality.

The unit is currently being blown up. It is expected to reach its planned capacity by the end of this week.

During the full-scale war, Zaporizhstal allocated over UAH 1.2 billion to upgrade production equipment and wastewater treatment facilities at the complex. The main focus of the program during the full-scale invasion was on maintaining and updating equipment to ensure its reliable operation in unforeseen conditions.
