Zaporizhstal allocated UAH 45 million to repair the equipment of the hot rolling shop

The overhaul will ensure stable and energy-efficient operation of the production line

Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works is carrying out a major overhaul of heating wells No. 14 in the hot rolling shop. Investments in the project amount to UAH 45 million. The work is part of a planned equipment upgrade to ensure reliable, stable, and energy-efficient operation of the units, according to a press release.

At the first stage, the specialists have already restored the lining of the main structures: chamber walls, support arches, floorboards, inclined passes, vaults, and regenerator nozzles. Currently, the repairs are entering a new phase, with the gradual restoration of mechanical, electrical, power equipment and automation systems underway. At the same time, elements of the metal frames of the wells are being repaired.

The work involves a team from several of the plant’s divisions and contractors. Most of the tasks are performed by refractory workers and mechanics of the hot rolling shop, as well as specialists from the Centralized Mechanical Repair Shop, Centralized Electrical Engineering Center, Automation Department and Central Electrical Laboratory.

This upgrade is important for the continued stable operation of the hot strip line. The timely overhaul will optimize energy consumption, reduce resource consumption and help maintain high product quality in the challenging wartime environment. Zaporizhstal emphasizes that a systematic approach to maintenance is one of the foundations of production reliability and efficiency.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Zaporizhstal allocated UAH 938 million to maintain its production facilities as part of the 2024 investment program. The key equipment upgrade projects implemented last year included the repair of blast furnaces No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 with a total investment of over UAH 230 million. In 2025, investments are planned to increase to UAH 1.1 billion.
