Tariffs in the amount of 10% will be valid until October 12, 2025

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended the import duty on rebar and wire rod until October 12, 2025. This is stated in the statement of Dubai Customs, SteelOrbis reports about it.

In January 2023, the import duty, which was increased from 5% to 10% in 2019, was extended until November 7, 2023. Customs reviewed the decision and extended the tariffs until 2025.

Products subject to tariff actions fall under customs tariff statistics according to positions 72131000, 721320000, 72139100, 72139900, 72141010, 72141020, 72141090, 72142010, 72142020, 72142090, 72143010, 72142020 і 72142090, 72143010, 72143020 і 7214.

In 2021, Ukraine exported to the UAE 165 tons of twisted wire and bars worth $109,000 and 29 tons of wires and bars worth $23,000. Also, 126,030 tons of flat carbon steel rolls 600 mm or more for $85.3 million were shipped to the Emirates. In 2022, almost no Ukrainian rolled products was shipped to the UAE.

As GMK Center reported earlier, from March 21, 2023, the UAE banned scrap export until September 21, 2023. The directive on the suspension of the export of raw materials applies to products under the codes 72041000, 72042100, 72042900, 72043000, 72044100, 72044900 and 72045000.

The UAE first imposed a four-month ban on scrap exports in May 2020. In the future, it was consistently continued in order to support the supply of raw materials for the country’s steel enterprises.
