Kazakhstan introduces a ban on scrap exports from May 6

Kazakhstan on May 6, 2022, introduces a ban on the export of scrap and waste ferrous and nonferrous metals, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan informed on its official website.

Such a restriction was established by the order of the Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of April 21, 2022 №224 “On some issues of transportation of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.”

According to the Committee, before the order came into force, goods should be freely exported from Kazakhstan.

Earlier GMK Center reported, that on December 9 in Ukraine officially came into force a new €180 per ton duty on exports of ferrous scrap. The increase in tariffs was supported by 242 votes at the Ukrainian parliament on December 2. Before, there was €58/t duty on exports of scrap metal.

At the end of 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a quota for the export of precious metals scrap in the amount of 2 tons of weight of precious metal in its pure form.
