Reliable operation of the unit is essential for stable steam supply to the plant

Kametsteel has successfully completed a major overhaul of its medium-pressure boiler unit No. 6, which has a capacity of 90 tons of steam per hour. The restoration of the equipment will contribute to the stable supply of steam to the plant and increase the efficiency of the unit, according to a press release from the company.

The specialists focused on replacing worn-out components, in particular, they installed new screen pipes, collectors of the screen and convective superheater, burner and air heater. They also repaired the draft and blower mechanisms, gas flues, chimneys, shut-off valves, and replaced the water supply lines.

Special attention was paid to improving safety and working conditions for the staff. The reinforced concrete ceiling in the smoke exhaust section was repaired, and two new 15-inch screens were installed on the control panel. They allow operators to monitor boiler performance parameters in real time, including air pressure, steam temperature and flow rates. In addition, an oxygen analyzer was installed in the tail section to help regulate the unit’s operation.

These upgrades will improve the efficiency of the thermal power plant and contribute to a stable production process at the enterprise.

As GMK Center previously reported, in 2025, Kametsteel plans to invest UAH 2.5 billion in the modernization of its production facilities, a record amount of funds in recent years. Key projects include the overhaul of blast furnace No. 9 and the construction of a solar power plant.
