On July 31, the unit was put into operation

Kametstal Iron and Steel Works carried out a 45-day overhaul of the mixer with relining in the converter shop. This is stated in the company’s press release.

During the works, more than 550 cubic meters were completely replaced of refractory masonry of the mixer body, restored the key equipment, repairs to which are possible only during the period of complete long-term shutdown of the unit, carried out comprehensive repair and maintenance of the aspiration system.

The mixer with a capacity of 2.5 thousand tons is intended for the technological preparation of liquid iron before it is fed to the converter department and poured into the converters – temperature equalization and chemical composition averaging.

After the completion of all repair work, specialists of the converter shop, together with the repairers, checked the operation of all nodes and mechanisms in the start-up mode and began the technological preparation for filling the unit. On July 31, the mixer received the first liquid cast iron.

«With the team efforts of contractors, specialists of the metallurgical equipment repair shop of «Metinvest Promservice» and our shop repair services, we successfully completed one of this year’s largest overhauls of equipment, the stable and efficient operation of the converter shop and the entire enterprise depends on its reliability. During the entire repair of the mixer, the production of high-quality steel in the shop did not stop – cast iron from the iron ladles of the blast furnace was poured directly into the ladles of the converter shop. Now the repaired unit is in the mode of full technological load,» says Andriy Karzin, deputy head of the converter shop for engineering.
