Under the terms of a long-term contract, the company will supply the customer with 10 types of railway wheels
The Ukrainian industrial company ‘Interpipe’ continues to expand its range of railway products, offering niche solutions to its European partners. This is stated in a company press release.
In the spring of this year, Interpipe launched production and manufactured passenger wheels with a diameter of 750 mm and locomotive wheels with a diameter of 1,016 mm in accordance with the technical requirements of a Greek railway operator.
As Niklas Eriksson, Interpipe’s senior manager for railway product sales to the European market, noted, the company secured this order thanks to its long-standing partner in the Greek market — the railway products distributor Artemi.
“Over the years of our collaboration, we have built a strong partnership, which has enabled us to establish a firm foothold in the local rolling stock market. Demand for specific wheel and wheel set designs in the Greek railway market changes frequently, and with it, so do our customers’ requirements. However, we are prepared to manufacture even small batches of niche products, as flexibility and a customer-focused approach are the keys to long-term cooperation,” he said.
In total, under the long-term contract, Interpipe plans to supply 10 types of railway wheels, which will be used to repair the client’s rolling stock, including passenger and freight carriages and locomotives. As of early July, five sizes had already been shipped.
It is worth noting that Interpipe has developed a new wheel set design for a rolling stock manufacturer in Northern Europe – the end user will be a steelworks in northern Sweden.
Previously, the company had shipped wheels of its own design for ore-carrying trains in Scandinavia. For this order, Interpipe developed a modified version of the wheel from its own Ultimate range of railway products.
