Over 10 months, an increase in gas consumption remained the same as in January–September — 1%

In October 2019, Ukrainian steel companies consumed 130 million cubic meters of natural gas, 7.2% down from October 2018.

GMK Center came to that conclusion based on the consolidated performance indicators of Ukraine’s mining & metals sector published by Ukrmetallurgprom.

In January–October, Ukrainian steel companies consumed 1.53 million cubic meters of natural gas, 1% up from the same period of the previous year.

As reported earlier, the same growth rate, 1%, was recorded for the first nine months of the year (1.4 billion cubic meters).

Over the first five months of 2019, Ukraine’s mining & metals sector consumed 740 million cubic meters of gas, 6% down from January–May 2018.

As reported earlier, on 1 November, Naftogaz of Ukraine raised gas prices for industrial consumers by 18.4–19.6% against October, up to ₴6,463-7,755 per thousand cubic meters, VAT included.

The company explained this with a hike in prices for natural gas in the European market, from which Ukraine imports this energy source.
