Blastr to explore the possibility of outsourcing its power grids to Aurora Infrastructure

Norway’s Blastr Green Steel (Blastr) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Finland’s Aurora Infrastructure, under which the latter will design and build power distribution facilities for the future steel plant in Inkoo, Finland. This is stated in the message of Blastr.

According to Blastr Chief Technology Officer Mikael Lindvall, the company will explore the possibility of outsourcing its power grids to Aurora Infrastructure.

“The work being evaluated covers everything from network design, construction, operation, including ongoing maintenance and financing of network investments, which reduces Blastr’s capital investment and allows the company to focus on its core business,” Lindvall said.

Blastr Green Steel CEO Mark Bula believes that the cooperation with Aurora Infrastructure is an important step forward in realizing the company’s vision of large-scale green steel production.

“Aurora Infrastructure’s deep experience in energy solutions makes them an ideal partner for this project,” he explained.

Aurora Infrastructure is a Finnish power grid development partner for industry, responsible for grid development, necessary investments in the grid, as well as maintenance and operation of the grid as a complete solution.

Blastr Green Steel plans to build a green steel plant in Inkoo, Finland, with an annual capacity of 2.5 million tons of ultra-low CO2 steel.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Blastr Green Steel has completed its second round of partnership financing. Three new investors joined the original investors.
