About 200 employees will receive new jobs and specialized trainings during the temporary shutdown of BF No. 3

ArcelorMittal Poland has announced that it has reached an agreement with trade unions in connection with the temporary shutdown of blast furnace No. 3 at its plant in Dabrowa Górnicza. The agreement concerns about 200 employees directly involved in the operation of the furnace, according to a press release.

Under the terms of the agreement, the company and trade unions will ensure the stability and continuity of employment of these workers during the equipment downtime. Employees will be offered alternative tasks according to their competencies and capabilities.

In addition, during the downtime, they will undergo mandatory and specialized trainings to help them acquire new skills and qualifications. This will open up opportunities for further professional growth and increased competitiveness in the labor market. Employees will also be able to use their accumulated vacation time.

Stanisław Buhl, HR Director of ArcelorMittal Poland, thanked the social partners for their quick work on the agreement and emphasized that the company will now move on to direct consultations with employees to offer each individual an optimal solution.

This initiative is designed to minimize social risks and retain qualified personnel despite temporary technical difficulties in production.

As GMK Center reported earlier, on July 24, 2025, ArcelorMittal Poland announced a temporary shutdown of blast furnace No. 3 at its plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The manufacturer claims a loss of profitability due to cheap imported steel and high energy and CO2 prices.
