Another vessel with steel and grain left Odesa port through the temporary corridor

The bulk carrier PUMA (Cayman Islands), loaded with 16,000 tons of steel and 14,000 tons of rapeseed, left Odesa Seaport through the temporary sea corridor.

This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov on his Facebook page. The ship sailed on the morning of Friday, September 15.

«The bulk carrier PUMA (Cayman Islands) left the Odesa seaport this morning and is now heading to the Bosphorus through the established shipping corridor. The vessel is loaded with 16,000 tons of steel and 14,000 tons of rapeseed. Bulker entered the Odesa seaport on February 19, 2022, and could not leave the port due to the start of hostilities and the closure of the relevant areas of the Black Sea,» the minister wrote.

The temporary traffic corridor is primarily used for the evacuation of ships that were in the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk, Odesa, and Pivdenny at the time of the full-scale invasion.

«Given the blocking of the Grain Initiative and the world’s growing need for Ukrainian products, Ukraine is considering the possibility of using it for civilian ships that transport non-military cargo, in particular grain, mainly to countries in Africa and Asia,» Kubrakov added.

As GMK Center reported earlier, since August 15, 4 vessels have used the temporary corridor. This path has already been covered by the container ship JOSEPH SCHULTE, bulk carriers PRIMUS and ANNA-THERESA with OCEAN COURTESY on August 16, 27 and September 1, respectively.

The head of the project office of the Metinvest Group’s CEO Oleksandr Vodoviz commented earlier for GMK Center  that the full unblocking ports for all types of goods will bring Ukraine more than $5 billion in taxes per year.
