Balancing ropes and skips are being replaced at the mine, plans are being made to install a new mine cage
Sukha Balka Mine, part of DCH Steel Group, is carrying out a large-scale upgrade of equipment at Yubileynaya Mine. This is stated in the company’s corporate newspaper.
The balancing rope of the cage hoist was replaced in the shaft of the Yuvileyna mine. By the end of May, the company plans to replace the second balancing rope and put the hoisting unit into operation.
«The safety of people depends on the quality and stability of the ropes, so the company has been using products from the German manufacturer PFEIFER DRAKO for many years. The new ropes are expected to last at least 2-3 years,» the statement said.
Preparations are also underway for the installation of the second mine skip at Yuvileyna mine this year. The company installed the first skip in April, which was manufactured by Dnipro Metallurgical Plant.
The second skip was ordered from Modus, a specialized organization. The skip has already arrived at the plant, but before it can be lowered into the mine, it is necessary to apply an anti-corrosion coating and wear-resistant lining material to the skip body.
The skip is scheduled to be installed in June-July, when the production situation allows, as its installation requires suspension of ore mining. The company also plans to install a unique three-storey cage at Yuvileyna mine this year.
The Yuvileyna mine has two skips that deliver ore to the surface from a depth of 1,500 meters. Each skip is 15 meters long, has a volume of 25 cubic meters and a lifting capacity of 53 tons. They need to be replaced after 5-7 years of operation.
As GMK Center reported earlier, the mine produced almost 931 thousand tons of commercial iron ore in 2023. Over the past year, the company operated in the mode of maximum resource conservation. In particular, the company repaired equipment at industrial sites on its own and continued to implement the equipment modernization program.
In 2024, the company plans to increase production of commercial iron ore by 20% compared to 2023, to 1.134 million tons.
Sukha Balka mine specializes in underground iron ore mining and has an annual capacity of about 3.1 million tons, and includes Yuvileyna and Frunze mines.
