The initiative will complement another programme approved at the end of last year
The European Commission has approved an Austrian programme worth €100 million to support production capacity in the clean technology (cleantech) sector, in line with the objectives of the Clean Industry Agreement (CISAF). This is stated in a press release from the institution.
This initiative will complement another Austrian programme approved by the EC in December 2025 for a similar amount and with identical objectives.
Support under the new programme will be provided in the form of subsidised loans. It will be open to SMEs as well as large enterprises investing in strategic sectors such as batteries, solar panels or wind turbines in Austria. State aid may be granted until 31 December 2026.
The European Commission has concluded that the Austrian scheme meets the conditions set out in the CISAF. In particular, it will stimulate the production of clean technologies, as well as their key specific components.
It should be noted that at the end of February this year, the EC approved a €1.1 billion state aid scheme in France to support strategic investments that add clean technology production capacity.
The French scheme encourages investment in the production of additional zero-emission capacity using technologies such as solar, offshore or onshore wind, as well as heat pumps and battery technologies. It covers costs associated with key specific components and critical raw materials.
