In August 2022, Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) increased cargo transportation by 4.5% compared to the previous month – up to 10.787 million tons. Rail.Insider reports about it with the reference to the data of the deputy director of UZ’s commercial work department Valery Tkachev.
According to him, the result of August is a record since the beginning of the large-scale aggression of the Russian Federation. At the same time, in comparison with August 2021, freight transportation by railway decreased by 2.6 times.
The largest increase in August compared to July was shown by the export transportation of grain – by 41.6%, up to 2.08 million tons. The share of grain cargoes in the total nomenclature of transportation increased to 18.7% in August. The volume of agricultural products export transportation amounted to 1.6 million tons.
“I think that this is just the beginning, and in September we will break this record as well,” noted Valery Tkachev.
Earlier, GMK Center reported, that Ukrzaliznytsia in July 2022 increased the transportation of iron and manganese ore by 3.2% compared to the previous month – up to 2.03 million tons. In general, for the month UZ transported 10.3 million tons of cargo, which is 9.2% more than in June of this year.
In 2021, UZ reduced transportation of iron and manganese ore by 2.7% compared to 2020 – to 77.6 million tons. Export transportation fell by 3%, to 44.6 million tons, and domestic transportation increased by 3.1% – to 27.7 million tons.
