In September 2022, coking enterprises produced 213 thousand tons of gross coke, including 182 thousand tons of metallurgical coke

In January-September 2022, Ukrainian coking plants reduced the production of 6% moisture gross coke by 56.6% compared to the same period in 2022 – to 3.15 million tons. Interfax-Ukraine reports about it with the reference to the CEO of the association of coke enterprises Ukrkoks, Anatoly Starovoit’s data.

For 9 months of 2022, the production of metallurgical coke amounted to 2.7 million tons. In September 2022, 213 thousand tons of gross coke were produced, including 182 thousand tons of metallurgical coke.

At the same time, Yuzhkoks, Kametstal, DMZ, Zaporizhkoks and coke production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih are currently operating. The largest coke chemical plant, Avdiyivka Coke Plant, is idle.

In January-September 2022, 3.527 million tons of coal concentrate were supplied to domestic coke plants. In September – 277 thousand tons.

As the President of Ukrmetallurgprom, Olexander Kalenkov, noted in an interview for GMK Center, now Ukrainian steelmakers do not experience a shortage of coking coal, but this is mainly because they work at minimum capacity.

As GMK Center reported, in 2021 Ukrainian coking plants reduced coke production by 1.3% compared to 2020 – to 9.54 million tons. In December 2021, coke production decreased by 4% y/y – to 812 thousand tons
