Huta Czestochowa has produced over 100 thousand tons of steel since its restart in January

The company claims to have restored its market position and plans to increase volumes

Polish steelmaker Huta Czestochowa has produced more than 100 thousand tons of steel since it resumed operations in January 2025 after a one-year break. According to the company’s management, this was made possible thanks to the well-coordinated work of the team and the effective implementation of the production resumption strategy.

“Exceeding the 100 thousand tons mark confirms that the chosen operating model is effective. This is a good starting point for further development and production scaling. This is also a credit to our team, which has been a key element of the entire process from the very beginning,” said Adrian Sienicki, CEO of Huty Częstochowa.

The plate mill was restarted in February and the electric arc furnace shop in January. Production is running smoothly and, according to the company, further growth is expected in the coming months.

The plant’s products are supplied not only to the Polish domestic market but also for export.

“This result demonstrates that we are returning to the game in key market segments, including exports. Our customers value not only quality but also meeting deadlines, and we are proving that we are a reliable partner,” said Piotr Glużniewicz, Vice President for Commercial Affairs.

The Polish Ministry of Defense is planning to buy the plant, but an appeal against its valuation is currently pending. The value of the asset increased from 227 to 253.8 million zlotys after the launch of production.

“From the very beginning, we have been working with a focus on the long-term sustainability of the process. Today’s result is a consequence of well-thought-out technical solutions and efficient production management,” said Jarosław Guptys, Production Director.

At the end of April, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the transfer of Huta Czestochowa to the Ministry of Defense would guarantee the company long-term orders.

As a reminder, in January-April 2025, Polish steelmakers increased steel production by 3.9% compared to the same period in 2024, to 2.48 million tons. In April, the industry produced 633 thousand tons of steel, up 5.7% compared to April 2024.
