The procedure was initiated following a complaint filed by the European Association of Steel Pipe Manufacturers

The European Commission (EC) has announced the launch of an anti-dumping investigation into imports of certain seamless pipes from China, SteelOrbis reports.

The investigation will cover the period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. It will last up to 14 months, with the possibility of imposing temporary duties for seven to eight months.

Currently, the goods subject to the anti-dumping investigation fall under the following customs tariff statistics item numbers: 7304191020, 7304193020, 7304230020, 7304291020, 7304293020, 7304312030, 7304318030, 7304395030, 7304398230, 7304398320, 7304518930, 7304598230 and 7304598320.

The investigation was launched following a complaint filed by the European Steel Tube Association (ESTA) on April 2, 2024. It claimed that imports of the products in question had increased significantly, thereby causing material injury to the bloc’s industry. The industry association also provided evidence that supplies of the product in question from China had increased in terms of market share.

The EC will determine whether the dumped product originates from the country under investigation and whether the dumped imports have caused injury to the industry.

The European Commission launched an investigation into Chinese tinplate following a complaint from EUROFER to determine whether imports to the EU are being sold at excessively low prices. One of the central allegations of the complaint is that Chinese producers are benefiting from distorted prices for raw materials, particularly hot rolled flat products, which account for 60-70% of production costs and are subject to Chinese export restrictions.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in March this year, the European Commission decided to maintain the current anti-dumping duties on imports of certain types of corrosion-resistant steel (CRS) products from China, including hot-dip galvanized coils (HDG), at 17.2-27.9%, depending on the supplier.
