The three-story mine cage will operate in the mine's Yuvileyna mine

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ), a part of DCH Group, has produced a shaft cage for Sukha Balka mine for the first time in the company’s history. This is stated in the corporate newspaper DCH Steel.

The three-storey mine cage will be used in the mine’s Yuvileyna mine and will be able to transport 126 miners to the surface at the same time.

DMZ manufactured and assembled the main part of the cage: the first and second floors of the body and the frame to which the cage body will be attached. To fulfill this important order, the company received a permit from the State Labor Service of Ukraine.

In the summer, rolled steel products were delivered to the plant, from which the specialists of SCRMU cut out all the necessary components and drilled holes. Ukrremprom, a contractor, was engaged to process some parts.

“The mine cage is a rather complicated structure and we manufactured it for the first time, but there were no particular difficulties in the work, given the experience of the specialists of the Centralized Mining and Steelworking Center. “Sukha Balka provided all the necessary technical documentation, and we have already adapted the cage manufacturing technology to our conditions,” said Yuriy Vylivanyi, head of the auxiliary equipment repair and manufacturing department.

After completing the production of components, the company’s specialists assembled the stand. They assembled the platforms of the first and second floors, body columns, and partially the frame of the stand separately. For the final assembly, the elements were delivered to the main building of the SCRMU, which has the necessary crane equipment to assemble the 11-meter-high structure weighing more than 20 tons. After both floors were assembled, the metalwork was sheathed in aluminum and the mechanical part was installed.

“This week we are performing a control assembly of the cage. We will mark all its elements, because the cage will be transported in a disassembled state and reassembled at the mine,” said Alexander Vylivany, head of the Centralized Maintenance Department and chief mechanic of the DMZ.

From the very beginning of the work, Sukha Balka representatives kept the process under control: they assessed the quality of parts, welds, etc. In the near future, they are expected to make a visit for the final acceptance of the stand, after which the equipment will be shipped to Kryvyi Rih. There, the structure manufactured by DMZ will be assembled, and other preparatory work will be carried out.

It is expected that the new stand will operate for at least 5 years.

As GMK Center reported earlier, Sukha Balka has renewed all the mine skips at Yuvileyna mine. In total, there are two such units in the mine shaft, the first of which was replaced at the beginning of the year and the second in July. Yubileynaya’s skips have unique technical characteristics: 15 meters long, 25 cubic meters in volume and 53 tons of lifting capacity. Typically, miners use skips with a volume of 20 cubic meters.
