The relevant draft resolution will be published for public consultation

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKP) has approved a new electricity transmission tariff for NEC ‘Ukrenergo’. This was reported by Interfax Ukraine.

The draft resolution has been agreed subject to a note regarding the need to resolve a legislative conflict. It will be published on the regulator’s website for public consultation prior to a final decision being taken.

According to the document, the tariff for electricity transmission services from 1 August 2026 will be:

  • for system users (excluding ‘green’ electrometallurgy enterprises) – 928.45 UAH/MWh (here and below excluding VAT, a 25 per cent increase),
  • for green electrometallurgy enterprises – 563.26 UAH/MWh.

In particular, according to the document, the tariff component for fulfilling special obligations to ensure an increase in the share of electricity generation from alternative energy sources will amount to 365.19 UAH/MWh.

Furthermore, the NEURC has approved the procedure for appointing a nominated electricity market operator (NEMO) – a key regulatory act that establishes the legal framework for integrating the Ukrainian ‘day-ahead’ and intraday markets with the corresponding segments of EU markets under the market coupling mechanism.

Market coupling is based on the coordination of the work of nominated market operators from different countries.

“The introduction of this mechanism will enable cross-border electricity trading to take place under uniform rules and allow for more efficient use of cross-border transmission capacity,” the regulator’s statement reads.

The next step will be the procedure for appointing a NEMO in accordance with the approved procedure. At the same time, the technical, regulatory and organisational measures necessary for the implementation of market coupling will continue to be carried out.

It should be recalled that on 30 June, the NEURC approved an increase in Ukrenergo’s tariff for operational dispatch management services. From 1 July this year, it rose by 7.8 per cent to 118.64 UAH/MWh (excluding VAT).
