Production of steel structures in Ukraine fell by 28.5% over 4 months

The results of production of main types of steel structures in Ukraine worsened in January–April 2020 by 28.5% to 107.3 thousand tons compared to the same period of the previous year,

according to the results of production of certain types of industrial products in January–April 2020 published by the State Statistics Service.

The following trends in production of certain types of steel structures were recorded over the four months of 2020:

  • pre-engineered construction systems made of pig iron and steel — a 17.1% decrease to 12.9 thousand tons;
  • lattice towers and masts made of ferrous metals — a 75.2% collapse to 805.8 tons;
  • equipment for metal scaffolds, formworks, supports or fixtures for mines, retractable beams of lining fixtures, pipe scaffolds and other equipment made of ferrous metals — a 16.8% decrease to 23.1 thousand tons;
  • structures made exclusively or mainly of sheet material, of ferrous metals and other structures — a 22.6% decrease to 30.4 thousand tons;
  • spillways, locks, lock gates, landing stages, stationary docks, other structures for marine and river facilities made of ferrous metals; other structures and their parts made of ferrous metals — a 47.2% decrease to 33 thousand tons;
  • various tanks, cisterns, cylinders and similar containers for liquids and solids made of ferrous metals with a capacity of more than 300 liters — a 7.3% increase to 6.2 thousand tons;
  • metal containers for compressed or liquefied gas — a 17% decrease to 828.2 tons.

As reported earlier, in 2019, production of main types of steel structures in Ukraine grew by 22% to 470.2 thousand tons. The following trends in production of the largest groups of steel structures were recorded last year:

  • pre-engineered construction systems made of pig iron and steel — a 12.8% decrease to 44.9 thousand tons;
  • equipment for metal scaffolds, formworks, supports or fixtures for mines, retractable beams of lining fixtures, pipe scaffolds and other equipment made of ferrous metals — a 4.5% increase to 78.8 thousand tons;
  • structures made exclusively or mainly of sheet material, of ferrous metals and other structures — a 24.4% increase to 128.2 thousand tons;

spillways, locks, lock gates, landing stages, stationary docks, other structures for marine and river facilities made of ferrous metals; other structures and their parts made of ferrous metals — a 25.2% increase to 179.8 thousand tons;
