In 2020, production of freight cars and platforms in Ukraine dropped by 70.1% to 3,241 units against 2019, according to the State Statistics Service.
In December, railway cars manufacturers made 197 units of rolling stock. This is 63% down from December 2019.
Most fright cars were produced by Kryukivskyi Railway Car Building Works (KRCBW), whose output declined significantly. In 2020, the plant produced 1,569 freight cars, 70% down from 2019. In December, the plant made 13 freight cars.
As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2019, Ukraine cut production of freight cars and platforms by 5.2% to 10,571 units against 2018. The main contribution was made by KRCBW, which produced 5,280 freight cars in 2019, 43% up from 2018.
