Northern Mining allocated UAH 17 million to upgrade the incinerator

The Northern Mining and Processing Plant (Northern Mining), a member of the Metinvest group, allocated UAH 17 million to upgrade the LURGI 552A burning machine in pellet production workshop No. 2 (PW-2). This is stated in Metinvest.Media’s press release.

At the beginning of October, the updated unit was put into operation after quarterly repairs. The key stage of the works was the modernization of the two-deck roller screen for raw pellets.

«The main achievement of the carried out modernization is an increase in the productivity of the firing machine. Now the machine produces 463 tons of pellets per hour against the previous 460 tons. The second important result of the modernization is the reduction of the specific consumption of gas and electricity. And the third is to improve the quality characteristics of finished products. In general, this will bring us an expected annual effect of up to ten million hryvnias,» said Andriy Steblii, deputy head of the production and planning department of the Northern Mining.

During the repair, specialists also carried out standard work, such as replacing the refractory lining of the furnace and repairing metal structures. Conveyor belts were replaced at the clod, burning and screening stations. Process fans were repaired, conveyors, main and auxiliary units and mechanisms involved in the LURGI 552A process line were serviced.

Today, the products produced by the unit are sent to European consumers and steelmakers Zaporizhstal and Kametstal.

As GMK Center reported earlier, the Northern Mining reduced the cost of iron ore extraction in the Hannivsky quarry by $1.5/t. This was facilitated by the revision of quarry logistics, reduction of the distance of transportation of mining mass, optimization of equipment operation, etc.
