The company is participating in a large-scale water supply project that should provide the city with water in August

Metinvest-SMC, a steel trading company of Metinvest Group, has joined a large-scale infrastructure project to build a new water main to provide Mykolaiv with high-quality drinking water. As part of this initiative, the company is supplying up to 500 tons of rebar of various sizes, which is the basis for creating a reliable water supply system, according to a press release.

The construction is being carried out by Autostrada, and the project is expected to be completed in record time – in just five months. More than a thousand specialists and hundreds of pieces of equipment work at the site every day, which allows for rapid progress in construction.

The total length of the water pipeline will be 67.8 km and its capacity will be up to 120 thousand cubic meters of water per day. Work began in March with the laying of the first section (18.4 km), and in April construction of two more sections began – 22.9 km and 26.5 km, respectively.

The water pipeline route is mostly outside residential areas, which minimizes interference with infrastructure and speeds up the work. Thanks to the modern horizontal directional drilling technology, the pipeline is laid without damaging the soil.

Three pumping stations with a capacity of up to 800 kW each will be built. The pipeline network is constructed of pipes with a diameter of 800-900 mm, resistant to pressure, temperature fluctuations and chemical influences. Power grids, transformers and autonomous power sources are also being installed.

Metinvest-SMC emphasizes that participation in the project is a contribution to sustainable infrastructure that will provide Mykolaiv with water in August.

As GMK Center reported earlier, in 2024, Metinvest SMC supplied 3.2 thousand tons of rolled steel plates to rebuild an important infrastructure facility, the Desna River bridge to Chernihiv, which was destroyed by the Russian enemy at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
