About 30 million tons of cargo passed through the Ukrainian sea corridor

The special corridor through the Black Sea, which Ukraine opened 7 months ago on its own, solely with the assistance of the Joint Defense Forces, has handled about 30 million tons of cargo. This was stated by Oleksandr Kubrakov, Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure.

Domestic products are currently exported to at least 38 countries. In December and February, the volume of goods shipped in the ports of Greater Odesa increased significantly.

«Protection and development despite constant attacks were discussed at a high level today during the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the Odesa Commercial Sea Port. On a daily basis, caravans are formed for entry and exit. We are talking about several dozen vessels from the ports of Greater Odesa. We can also talk about a significant increase in cargo turnover in the ports of the Danube cluster. Over the past month, about 2 million tons of cargo of various types have been transshipped there,» he said.

According to Kubrakov, the enemy cannot stop our exports today and is therefore trying to destroy the port infrastructure. Since July 2023, Russian troops have used more than 880 kamikaze drones and 170 missiles against Ukraine’s port infrastructure.

As GMK Center reported earlier, the Ministry of Economy confirmed that the Unity affordable ship insurance program, implemented by Marsh McLennan and Lloyd’s of London in cooperation with the Ukrainian government, has been expanded to cover all non-military cargo. Under the program, it will be possible to insure not only the maritime transportation of grain and other important foodstuffs, but also ships carrying ore, steel, and containerized cargo.
