In December, the indicator increased by 3% y/y
In 2025, Spanish steel enterprises increased steel production by 0.7% compared to 2024, to 11.95 million tons. Thus, the country ranks 15th in the WorldSteel Association’s global ranking of steel-producing countries (70).
In December, Spanish steelmakers increased steel production by 3% compared to December 2024, to 896,000 tons. Compared to November, the figure decreased by 0.6%.
The average monthly steel output in 2025 was 995,800 tons, compared to 988,600 tons a year earlier.

Overall, EU steelmakers increased steel production by 3.9% y/y in December 2025 to 9.9 million tons, while for the year as a whole, they reduced it by 0.9% y/y – to 42.8 million tons.
As reported by GMK Center, Spain increased steel production by 3.3% compared to 2023, to 11.82 million tons. In December, Spanish steelmakers produced 870 thousand tons of steel (-14.3% month-on-month; +16% year-on-year). The average monthly steel output in 2024 was 985.2 thousand tons, compared to 954.3 thousand tons in 2023 and 964.4 thousand tons in 2022.
